Reflecting on Pride Month 2024: Supporting LGBTQ+ Communities

Pride Month holds a special place in our hearts. It is a time to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and stand in solidarity with those who continue to fight for equality and acceptance.

This year, as always, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ causes and fostering a welcoming environment for all. We are incredibly grateful to our LGBTQ+ community and allies for their unwavering support and for being an integral part of the JulieMay family.

JulieMay’s Ongoing Support for the LGBTQ+ Community

At JulieMay, our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community goes beyond Pride Month. We have always believed in creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels valued and celebrated for who they are.

Over the years, we have consistently supported LGBTQ+ causes, partnering with various organizations to help make a positive impact. Our efforts are rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to live authentically and without fear.

From raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues to donating to charities that provide essential services, we strive to make a difference. Our past collaborations with organizations like Galop and AKT have allowed us to extend our reach and provide critical support to those in need.

2024 Pride Month Spotlight on AKT: A Safe Housing Charity

This year, we had the privilege of partnering with AKT, a national charity dedicated to providing vital support for LGBTQ+ young people who are either at risk of homelessness or currently experiencing it. AKT's mission is to ensure that no young person has to choose between a safe home and being their true self.

With a staggering 24% of homeless individuals aged 16-25 identifying as LGBTQ+, the work AKT does is more important than ever.

LGBTQ+ youth often face unique challenges that contribute to their precarious housing situations. Many are forced out of their homes due to their identity, leaving them vulnerable and without a safe place to turn. AKT steps in to bridge this gap, offering a range of essential services tailored to meet the specific needs of these young individuals. From providing housing advice and mental health support to financial guidance, AKT is a lifeline for many.

Unfortunately, the demand for AKT's services far exceeds their capacity. In London alone, over one in four new cases must be redirected because the service is at capacity, and for their digital services, that number is one in five. This highlights the critical need for continued support and resources to help these young people find the stability and safety they deserve.

During Pride Month 2024, we donated 15% of all our Morpho Comfort Bra sales to AKT. This decision was driven by our belief that everyone deserves a place to feel safe, spread their wings, and grace the world with their unique beauty. With the incredible support of our community, we raised over £100 to donate to AKT.

As we reflect on Pride Month 2024, we are grateful for our community’s support and proud of the collective effort to make a positive impact. Through our advocacy and efforts to spread the word about their work, we hope to continue supporting AKT and making a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth.

A Look Back at Pride Month 2023: Spotlight on Galop

Reflecting further back to 2023, we proudly stood beside Galop, an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, honor-based abuse, and forced marriage. Galop's mission is to provide safety and freedom to those who need it most.

During Pride Month 2023, we launched a campaign to support Galop by donating 15% of all profits from our Sunbleached Floral Silk & Organic Cotton Supportive Bra. Our community’s belief that 'Every flower deserves a chance to bloom' resonated deeply, and together, we raised over £200 to support Galop’s vital work.

Reflecting on this campaign, we are reminded of the power of community and the importance of standing together to support those in need.
