Organic Cotton Bras
Organic cotton bras are the gentlest choice for reactive, allergy-prone and sensitive skin: they breathe, carry no pesticide residue and keep synthetic fibres off the skin. Every JulieMay organic cotton bra is made with organic Pima cotton fabric lined with pure silk, in wire-free and lightly-supportive shapes, with nickel-free fastenings and no exposed elastic — dermatologist-tested and Allergy UK certified.
Why organic cotton for sensitive skin
Conventional cotton is grown with pesticides and finished with dyes, resins and formaldehyde — any of which can trigger itching, redness or contact dermatitis on reactive skin. Organic cotton removes those inputs, and because it is breathable and moisture-absorbing it stops heat and sweat building up under the bust, where irritation and intertrigo usually start. We use organic Pima cotton, an extra-long staple variety that is smoother and stronger than ordinary cotton, and we line every bra with pure silk, which is naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial and temperature-regulating, so it glides over sore skin instead of rubbing it.

Frequently asked questions
- Are organic cotton bras better for sensitive skin?
- Yes. Organic cotton is grown and finished without the pesticides, dyes and resins that commonly irritate reactive skin, and it breathes well, so heat and moisture don’t build up under the bust where irritation starts.
- Can an organic cotton bra be supportive without underwire?
- Yes. A full-cup, wire-free design with structured seaming and wide, silk-lined straps gives real lift and support with nothing rigid or abrasive against the skin.
- What is organic Pima cotton?
- Pima is an extra-long staple cotton, which makes a smoother, stronger and softer fabric than ordinary short-staple cotton. Grown organically, it also carries no pesticide or synthetic fertiliser residue — which is why we use it as our main fabric.
- Why line organic cotton with silk?
- Pure silk is naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial and temperature-regulating. As an inner lining it wicks moisture and glides over sore skin, adding comfort a single-layer cotton bra cannot match.
