Hypoallergenic Lingerie
Hypoallergenic lingerie is underwear designed to avoid the materials that trigger skin reactions — synthetic fibres, latex elastic, nickel fastenings and chemical dyes. JulieMay is Allergy UK certified: GOTS-certified organic Pima cotton lined with pure silk, latex-free, nickel-free, dye-free and tag-free, so it is safe for eczema, dermatitis, nickel allergy and reactive skin.
What makes lingerie hypoallergenic
Hypoallergenic simply means designed to minimise the chance of an allergic reaction. For lingerie that means natural, breathable fibres against the skin, no metal or latex in contact points, and no residual dyes or finishing chemicals. JulieMay builds every piece to that brief: organic cotton and pure silk next to the skin, plastic (nickel-free) fastenings, and all elastic wrapped in cotton so it never touches you.
The allergens to avoid
- Synthetic fibres (polyester, nylon, elastane) that trap heat and can irritate
- Latex/rubber elastic hidden in waistbands and bands
- Nickel in hooks, sliders and underwires
- Azo and disperse dyes plus formaldehyde finishing resins
Why Allergy UK certification matters
Anyone can say ‘gentle’ on a label. Allergy UK certification is independent verification that a product is suitable for people with allergies and sensitive skin. JulieMay is certified by Allergy UK and dermatologist-tested — you can view the certificate and Allergy UK registry entry on our allergy-friendly page.

- Natural breathable fibres against the skin, no latex or nickel at contact points, and no residual dyes or finishing chemicals. It is designed to minimise anything that could trigger a skin reaction.
- Is JulieMay lingerie certified hypoallergenic?
- Yes. JulieMay is certified by Allergy UK and dermatologist-tested. The certificate and Allergy UK registry entry are published on our allergy-friendly page.
- Which fabrics are best for allergy-prone skin?
- GOTS-certified organic cotton and pure silk. Both are breathable and naturally hypoallergenic; silk is also antibacterial and temperature-regulating, so it soothes rather than rubs.
- Can hypoallergenic bras still be supportive and pretty?
- Yes. Wire-free full-cup shapes with structured seaming give real support, and lace-look styles are lined in soft cotton and silk so nothing scratchy touches the skin.
